As a GRASS Fellow<\/em> at Campus Gotland<\/em> (Uppsala University, Sweden), Kalle Brolin<\/strong> organized a lecture and workshop exploring the methodology of his filmmaking practice.<\/p>\n

The method, essayistic filmmaking, was introduced during a public lecture in November 2023, co-hosted by Gotland Art Museum. Using his own films as examples, Kalle demonstrated the concept of associative leaps in film structure and editing, a hallmark of essayistic filmmaking.<\/p>\n

The following day, Kalle led a workshop for students at Campus Gotland titled (Un)sustainable Consumption: Doing Research Through Essayistic Filmmaking. Students worked in small groups to create short films, employing this method to investigate small-scale industries on Gotland. The workshop concluded with a discussion of the films and reflections on the insights gained through this creative research approach.<\/p>\n
