During the first day of the Evenin School: ON MOBILISATION AND LEARNING, Heleen de Hoon, director of Performing Public Space in Fontys Academy of the Arts moderates the evening with David Limaverde, Ahilan Ratnamohan, Anna Rispoli, Lara Staal and Danae Theodoridou, all international artists working for many years on socially engaged art, to discuss the relation between the performing arts and political emancipation. This discussion departs from Theodoridou’s suggestion that performance today should operate as an act of ‘publicing’, namely as a frame for constructing public space and time anew, providing alternatives to capitalism.

Ahilan Ratnamohan invites imagination to the classroom. Can we imagine alternative language learning structures that go beyond the imperialistic, economically biased structured offered by institutions like the Goethe Institut, The British Council, Alliancee Française,…? Ahilan offers an alternative to the class, one that explores how we can learn new languages in a way that doesn’t conform to traditional pedagogies promoted by today’s educational system. Can you think of a language you desire to master? Bring it to the class, with a book you’d like to read in the desired language, as well as your laptop on.
Reserve your place through the LINK.
*Bringing a book and laptop is no must, but simply a suggestion. You’re free to come as you are.

About 50 years ago, the CIA was looking for new ways to collect intelligence, and launched a secret program on psychic vision and extrasensory perception. They created a method – Remote Viewing – which started circulating after the program’s declassification in the late 1990s. Since then, psychics and amateurs have appropriated the practice. Recently, a group of artists created Sursignal as a way to share, organize, and expand their uses of remote viewing.

The evening starts with the screening of a draft version of Simon Ripoll-Hurier’s documentary film The Signal Line. After the film, Simon Asencio and Simon Ripoll-Hurier talk about Remote Viewing’s history, theory and practice, and about Sursignal‘s activities.
