Daniele Ninarello‘s second residency took place from October 30 to November 7, 2023. During this period, Ninarello and his collaborators continued to develop their emerging choreographic device, building upon the somatic experiences cultivated during their previous work. The residency culminated in the premiere of Healing Together during the Evening School on Care, where four performers created an immersive experience for the audience. This piece explored states of intimacy and dream-like conditions, offering a profound investigation into the body’s response to care and environment. The performance deepened the dialogue initiated by Ninarello’s earlier work and continued the exploration of bodily awareness.
Healing Together itself originated from a series of short choreographic actions known as “silent protests,” which were developed during the lockdown periods and focused on the concept of ‘the body of protest.’ In our contemporary world, there is a pressing need to reflect on care, participation, listening, and healing. Our bodies are often constrained by cultural environments, becoming territories marked by control, violence, and repression. This environment compels us to conceal our vulnerability, which remains overlooked and uncelebrated. Through this residency, Ninarello aimed to address these issues by expanding the practice of listening to the body’s needs and responses within its environment.
