Tomorrow starts Daniele Ninarello’s residency at Lavanderia a Vapore
Tomorrow starts Daniele Ninarello’s residency, which will take place from April 14 to April 24, 2024, at Lavanderia a Vapore. His project, Healing Together, originated from a series of short choreographic actions called “silent protests” created during the lockdown periods. These actions were dedicated to the concept of the body of protest.
In our current times, there is a pressing need to reflect on care, participation, listening, and healing. Our bodies are continuously restrained by cultural environments, becoming territories colonized by control, violence, and offense. We are often compelled to suppress our vulnerability, leaving it unobserved and uncelebrated.
Addressing these concerns, Ninarello’s artistic intention is to develop a physical practice focused on listening to what one’s connective tissues need to release in response to the environmental stimuli affecting the body.
During his residency, Ninarello will engage with local communities—primarily the Dance Well project community—and work with performers to cultivate these listening capacities. Through these sessions, the identity of each body will be revealed and deconstructed in real time through interactions with others. This process will demonstrate how boundaries can soften and cease to defend. A mutual construction will emerge, with the performers translating the choreographic score onto their bodies moment by moment, creating a dynamic and evolving performance.
Within the frame of OnMobilisation, Lavanderia supports the artistic research of Daniele Ninarello and Elisabetta Consonni, providing them with individual residencies and common moments like the co-curatorial work of ON MOBILISATION public events (Evening School on Care and International Symposium), facilitating the crisscrossing of learnings and the practice of communing that is at the thematic core of the overall project.
